Custom amplifiers for acoustic and jazz guitars
The core of the Jaaz Acoustic design team consists of two engineers with a love for music and electronics, Jan O. Soelder and Ivo C. Miler. One with a love of jazz keyboards built electrophonic organs and the other, with a passion for jazz guitar, built guitar amplifiers.
The first designs of both saw the light of day in the 1970s, at a time when the prices of famous products on the market many times exceeded the possibilities of teenagers to obtain them legally.
The original JA designs from 1995 were based on cabinets welded from aluminum sheet to achieve extremely low weight. The pressure conditions in the cabinet have been solved with complicated rib stiffeners to ensure dimensional stability and minimize the influence of the cabinet construction on the resulting sound reproduction quality of acoustic and jazz guitars.
2015—2022
Custom amplifiers for acoustic and jazz guitars
Since 2015, the cabinets have already been manufactured from high-quality musical birch plywood, the material of which comes mainly from the European Boemerwald and Black Forest regions.
Starting from the year 2000, only analog preamps working in class A were used. The power electronics were designed in a hybrid arrangement to use all the potential of light acoustic transducers. The power amplifier delivered a peak power of 350 W. According to the sensitivity of the acoustic transducers, the SPL value reached up to 129 dB at a distance of 1 m for the size 15". For the extremely light coaxial 8" acoustic transducers, the SPL value reached a value of 125 dB at a distance of 1 m.

The result of such a solution is an extraordinary result that is intended to help support the artistic expression of any singing acoustic, jazz or electric guitar player. The amplifiers that appeared in 2024 on the website are the result of the development of the last 10 years and constant testing with singing practical acoustic, jazz and electric guitar players.
Our new generation combo amplifiers are made from the best and carefully tested components. Guitar circuits are made of components from proven local and global manufacturers, especially from Europe and the USA. The electronics are made in a boutique way, with a large proportion of craftsmanship and continuous quality testing.
The cabinets of the combo amps are made of musical birch plywood from wood available only in the old Boemerwald and Schwarzwald forests on the border of Germany, Austria and Bohemia.
Acoustic transducers they are mostly coaxial FRFR types from Jensen and Eminence. The coaxial speakers used do not require the use of a frequency crossover, which causes distortion due to phase shifts, especially at high power.
